When submitting artwork to Ryans’ Custom Products for engraving, please follow these art guidelines:
1) Photographs: The better your original photo, the better the results. Choose clear photos with good contrast and exposure. Aim for simple backgrounds. We can usually remove the background with photo editing software, but we are unable to make a “so-so” photo into a wonderful one. High resolution is key. Do not reduce the file size. Send us the original file format.
2) Logos: The best file format is EPS, as it can resized without loss of resolution or detail. Next best would be JPG (high resolution, 300 dpi or higher), TIF, BMP, or in some cases, PDF files. We cannot use Adobe Illustrator (AI) files. Also, do not “cut & paste” images from web-pages or send us GIF files, they are not sufficient resolution for engraving.
3) Copyrights and trademarks: if using a copywritten or registered trademark, we will need WRITTEN PERMISSION to use your logo from the originating company. Examples would be fraternal organizations, Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts, 4H Club, etc.
